The cryptocurrency exchange Luno has partnered with the online learning platform AltSchool Africa and together, they are launching Africa’s largest crypto education program, aiming to provide free, high-quality training to 15,000 Nigerians.

The initiative, called “Demystifying Crypto for Africans,” is a direct response to the rapid growth of digital finance on the continent. With about one-third of Nigerians already interacting with digital assets, there is a strong need for clear, reliable information to help people participate safely and confidently.

What the Program Offers

The course is designed to be practical and beginner-friendly, focusing on real-world uses of cryptocurrency that are relevant to Africans. Key features include:

  • Fully Funded Scholarships: The course is completely free for the 15,000 selected participants.
  • Africa-Focused Curriculum: The lessons will show how crypto can be used for practical needs like saving money, sending remittances, global trading, and starting a business.
  • Flexible Learning: The program is online and self-paced. Participants will have up to a year to access video lessons, slides, quizzes, and case studies.
  • Hands-On Experience: Learners won’t just study theory; they will get practical experience using crypto wallets, exchanges, and research tools.
  • Expert Leadership: The course will be led by Web3 expert Abdulsamad Tiamiyu.
  • Official Certificate: Participants who complete the course and pass the assessments will receive a Certificate of Completion from AltSchool Africa.

Why This Partnership Matters

Leaders from both companies emphasized that this is more than just a course—it’s an investment in Africa’s economic future.

  • Ayotunde Alabi, CEO of Luno Nigeria, stated that as crypto adoption grows, so must proper education. This partnership is meant to build trust and turn potential risks into real economic opportunities for people.
  • Adewale Yusuf, CEO of AltSchool Africa, called it a major step toward financial empowerment, giving Africans the tools to confidently participate in the global digital economy.
